Key Components for Families

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD:

  • To help support your child’s language, engage in conversation with your child (verbalize/sign/play/sing) throughout day about all routine activities happening in household/in school (chores, crafts, cooking, nature walks, family interactions, tv, etc.). 
  • Use visuals to initiate/supplement conversation, such as pictures, photos, sketches, emojis, and a short description of what happened that particular day.
  • Practice reading daily.
  • Ensure your child is wearing functioning hearing device during all waking hours.

 

 

SCHOOL AGE:

  • Teach your child to be a good self-advocate for themselves/in classroom.
  • Support child’s organization skills (agendas, planners).
